Ryan Viser has not slowed down in 2017 so far. He took a break from the Winter Whiteout Tour to speak with us about what’s coming up next.
So you’ve been out on tour with fellow Inside Out Presents artist Tnertle. How has it been so far?
“It’s been a lot of fun. This is my first time getting to hear the full band and they kill it!”
Is there a specific city that stands out the most on this tour so far?
“Hypest stop of the tour award would definitely go to The Historic Brown, which is a super old hotel in Breckenridge. I wasn’t really sure what to expect my first time there but that crowd really brought the energy
and got down.”
You just got done performing at Gem and Jam Festival…so what gem would you use to describe yourself?
“I’ve always been partial to amethyst. Saw a lot of these growing up in Brazil and just really feel the
vibes from those deep purple hues.”
For those of us who have never gone on tour, what is the one essential you never leave home without?
“Not including gear of course…a case of Guayaki Yerba Mate. This stuff keeps me energized and fueled up for those long drives and high energy sets.”
What is your favorite city to go through on tour and why?
“It’d be a toss up between Denver, CO and Fayetteville, AR. There’s so much love and so many good homies in both cities that it’s impossible to not have a good time when I play there.”
What are you looking forward to most on the second leg of this tour?
“The Arkansas shows without a doubt. We’ll be hitting Fayetteville and Little Rock. Both towns always turn out and bring the good vibes. Definitely stoked to be getting back there again.”
You recently released a snippet for your upcoming album. Care to share some details about
“Absolutely. This will be my third album which led me to the name Funky #3. The style of music is mostly upbeat 100 bpm funky style jams that I’ve been working on for awhile. Albums are always fun because you get to close the book on the production of the tracks and then put them out there for people to enjoy.”
You have Envision Festival coming up in a few weeks. What was your reaction like when you found out you were confirmed on the lineup?
“I’m pretty sure I threw my hands in the air and ran around the house screaming “happy happy joy joy” for a good ten minutes without stopping. I don’t think I had realized I was 100% confirmed the day the line up was announced, so waking up to the poster and seeing my name on it…yeah, you could say I was a little excited. Really looking forward to taking in the local culture, vibing out with amazing people in an amazing place, and spreading that trumpet love.”
