SOLD OUTThough best known as the leader of LCD SOUNDSYSTEM, James Murphy has been active in various roles pre-dating throughout and beyond the Grammy-nominated LCD existence.  A longtime fixture of downtown NYC music scene, Murphy co-founded the DFA label, which released the LCD Soundsystem catalogue and whose current roster includes The Rapture, Holy Ghost!, YACHT, the Juan Maclean, and more. His DJ mixes are renowned for their originality and verve.

5AM’s sound fuses powerful chunky beats, dazzling sound design, and dreamy jazzy melodies. To achieve this fusion, it takes a keen understanding of how to manage layers of sound. This class will cover concepts ranging from bass synthesis to drum layering, all centered around isolating and optimizing particular elements of a sound, plus elements of the mix in which students will learn to occupy their own part of the frequency spectrum. You will explore concepts of harmonics, multi-band processing, drum layering, stereo presence, beat-making, and side-chaining to get sounds to come through clean and occupy their own space. This will all be in the context of making a track in Ableton Live. 


Is There Brunch on Mars? (David Bowie Brunch)

This event at Ophelia’s features a tribute brunch to David Bowie, just a few short days following the anniversaries of his birth & passing. They’ll be playing songs by Major Tom and all of Bowie’s other personas, including B-sides, remixes, covers, and more. There will also be Bowie visuals up on the big screen and live painting by Jher451, so look up from your plates once in a while to feast your eyes, ears, and mouth!


Road to WinterWonderGrass – Battle of The Bluegrass

The road to Winter WonderGrass is hosting a Battle of the Bluegrass between competing bands High Country Hustle, Morsel, The Deer Creek Sharp Shooters, Ghost Town Drifters, and Pick & Howl. Each band brings its own unique tone of bluegrass to the competition at Globe Hall and will have foot-stompin’ bluegrass supports howlin’ for their favorite tune. This is sure to be a shreddin’ good time with some of the best local bluegrass bands.

Date: Sunday, January 12th

Join Hikyoga Colorado community teacher Natalie as she leads you through an all levels yoga flow.  This event will take place in the taproom at the brewery and will feature a Vegan Brunch food truck on location for a delicious brunch to follow. Epic Brewing is also releasing and tapping a brand new keg:  A Mimosa Beer! You just need your yoga mat. Water is provided if you do not bring your own. This is a great time to come with friends or make new ones! Hikyoga loves teaching yoga in remote places and connecting with the community. This is a great setting if you are brand new to yoga or new to Denver.
